New Moon, June 2022
~ It was a black sky in June
And a crab came slowly wandering by
And said “Where is the moon?” ~
We may not be able to see the moon, but we can feel it! It is there, it’s just in shadow!
The new moon in Cancer marks the first moon after Summer Solstice! When we are adjusting to the more summery vibrations, rain or shine! There is a greater relaxation dawning on us, and fun magical energy around 🌞
However any moon in watery Cancer sign is likely to be an emotional one! It can feel like an emotional rollercoaster when the energies are stacked just right! We may be feeling more sensitive than usual, especially if we have strong psychic / empathic tendencies.
Knowing the Cancer moon’s effects can help us be conscious of the energies at work, and help us react in a more positive way, which helps us find our centre, and feel a lot better.
Looking after yourself and being nice to yourself is important right now with this moon. This is more a time for turning inwards rather than outwards. It’s not such a time for action. Through exploring our inner depths, our inner ocean, we can learn good, useful things about ourselves that help bring us into our power.
We may have some big waves of emotion at the moment. These seem to be unavoidable for some of us. We are needing to ride these waves a little, feel the feelings a little while, to allow the deeper currents to become visible, to understand deeper meanings to what is happening for us than is immediately obvious. Like the crab of the Cancer sign, we’re going to want to side-step some of this! It’s a challenging moon though! So we can’t side-step it all. But you can stop getting hit by wave after wave by diving a little deeper to spot the patterns going on, finding where your heart is, where your own truth is.
Here, beneath the watery emotional events in life, is your power, your centre, your inner child, your path, your focus! Something that will anchor you in high tides and rough seas. You!
In this healing time then I will focus on centering energy, which is key. Knowing your true self and going with what is important. Also crab spirit healing to help you dodge some of those big waves.
We may also be feeling an alternative side to the Cancer moon which feels more about building a self-protective crab-like hard shell, created by freely exploring our creative powers, doing what we love, dipping a toe / pincer into the water (or diving in!) to what gets your creative powers flowing!
Cancer can be a really creative and sensitive, empathic character. And in this world that can be a challenge to be free to be you, though a beautiful challenge! But the crab energy of Cancer moon helps the person be easy in emotional waters and on firm, solid, physical earth. The hard shell is not always remembered, or can be damaged. But this new moon, for everyone, it is about restoring strength to be ourselves.
How do we do this? By following our true nature and letting our creative fires burn brightly. Adding some sparkly light to the dark nights of the new moon. The best way to be strong is to be You!
For this new moon I’d like to work with a mix of both these streams of energy! How to balance the emotional side of the moon and continue with the creative themes at work, while also remembering the summer relaxation vibrations. This may seem like a juggling act!
I will start with some anchoring energy, of self-love and self-knowledge with rubellite crystals. I will then work with the third eye chakra to establish a greater link to our higher selves. I will also send citrine healing for sparkles of joy that help connect us up to receive enlightenment, creative energies and clarity of thought for guidance through our emotional waves. And not forgetting crab spirit energy for building and repairing our shells!
